The Rules prohibit any consulting fees from being paid to non-lawyers. The Rules also allow us to co-counsel a personal injury case with other lawyers and split the attorneys fees proportionately with those lawyers, so long as we have the client’s prior consent. 

Additionally, we regularly seek out qualified lawyers in other states for co-counsel on our out of Texas cases. We find that co-counseling with local lawyers on our out of state cases provides our clients with expertise of the local environment, local contacts and reduced travel costs.
